Cancelling does not cut you off immediately. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, so if you have decided not to renew you can cancel straight away without losing anything.
Annual plans paid monthly carry an early termination fee. Under Adobe's subscription terms, cancelling more than 14 days after ordering costs 50% of the remaining contract value. This is the most expensive trap on this whole list.
After cancelling, the account becomes a free Creative Cloud membership with only 5GB of cloud storage. You get 30 days to move anything above that before it is restricted.
Cancelling within 14 days of ordering gets a full refund; after that there is no refund, but the service runs to the end of the current billing period.
