Terms of Service

1. What the service is

LapseWatch is a Chrome browser extension. When you click it, it reads fragments of the page you are on relating to trials, expiry and renewal, works out a likely expiry date, and — once you confirm it — saves a local reminder. It can also produce a pre-filled link for a Google Calendar event.

2. What the service does not do

• It does not guarantee a reminder arrives on time. Browser alarms do not fire while the computer is asleep; they are caught up after you wake it, so a reminder can be late. That is a browser limitation.
• It does not guarantee the detected date is correct. Text on a page can be wrong or ambiguous, which is why every reminder requires your confirmation before it is created.
• It will not cancel a subscription for you, and will not click a payment or refund button on your behalf.
• It is a tool for keeping track. Charges arising because you forgot to cancel something are your own responsibility. We recommend also creating the Google Calendar event — calendar reminders fire on time and reach your phone.

3. Your data

On the free tier all data stays on your own device. If you sign in, your email address and licence status are sent to our server to verify the licence, but your reminder content does not leave your device. See the Privacy Policy.

4. Payment

• Prices and what each plan includes are on Plans and pricing. All prices are in New Taiwan Dollars.
• Payment is handled by ECPay. We never touch or store your card details.
• The paid tier is a one-time payment. Once paid it does not expire. We create no recurring payment authorisation, and there is no second charge.
• If we change the price later, it does not affect people who already bought.
• Refund terms are on the Refund Policy.

5. If a licence lapses or the service is interrupted

• When a licence lapses, features drop back to the free tier. It does not lock or delete anything you have created. Existing reminders continue to notify you as usual.
• If our licence server is unreachable, the extension assumes the licence is valid for a 14-day grace period, so a problem at our end does not become your problem.

6. Acceptable use

• Do not attempt to bypass paid limits, interfere with the service, or send automated bulk requests to it.
• Do not use the service for unlawful purposes.

7. Changes and termination

We may update features or these terms. If a change affects how data is handled, we will update the public pages and say so inside the extension first. If the service shuts down, we will announce it in advance and make sure you can export your data; any paid but unused period will be refunded pro rata.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is”. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from use of the service, and in any case total liability is capped at the amount you actually paid in the preceding 12 months.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan), with the Taiwan Taipei District Court as the court of first instance.
