Cancelling does not cut you off immediately. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, so if you have decided not to renew you can cancel straight away without losing anything.
Turn it off at least 48 hours before it expires — any later and the next period is charged.
Cloud save backups stop when the membership ends. Resubscribing within 180 days brings them back; after that they are gone. This is the cost people most often overlook.
You cannot turn it back on afterwards. To continue you have to subscribe again.
